Are you an active or aspiring actor, dancer, or musician, age 12 and up? Want to up your performance game to reach for greater technical and creative challenges?

This fun two-hour workshop will teach you how integrating yoga into your performance warm-up regimen can help you grow as a performer and person. We will move through a gentle but robust yoga sequence while also exploring the many benefits of a mind, body, and breath practice for people whose art requires them to communicate characters and tell stories.

We will explore the mythical characters and stories behind many yoga poses, and learn how playing with these through yoga can help you build more complex, relatable characters and pieces in your art form. Participants are encouraged to bring in a role or piece that you would like to further develop through yoga.

You will come away with:

·      Fun ways to increase your physical fitness and stamina for stronger performances and greater range

·      Practical tools to harness nervous energy and increase calm and focus before performances

·      Breathing techniques to cultivate respiratory power and vocal capabilities

·      Valuable lessons about humility, collaboration, and teamwork

The yoga movement sequence will encompass:

·      Preparing the breath and cultivating a focused mind

·      Building stamina and flexibility

·      Using the body to tell stories and convey character

·      Cooling down the nervous system

·      Team Namaste
