Y4ES Yoga For Emotional Support

images-2.jpeg

Substance use disorder (addiction), mental health and trauma can ruin lives. It not only affects the person with the disease, but it affects the family members and loved ones as well. Support groups are helpful because we can empathize with others, but what is really important for the family members and caretakers to heal emotionally is focusing on self care, regardless of what the addict is doing. Many people are in need of emotional support over the loss of a loved one, divorce, abuse and more. Yoga for Emotional Support (YES) can help.

Drawing from personal experience, Christine Shaw of Liberty Yoga, along with Winden Rowe, licensed counselor specializing in trauma, substance abuse and addiction, will discuss the brain (mind) body connection and how movement is necessary to relieve emotional pain. During the 2 hour and 15 minute workshop, you will experience a 30 minute presentation, followed by a mindful yoga class. You will be asked to complete a survey at the end to help Christine and Windon further develop their program to meet the needs of those affected by disease and loss.
