Tapping Tune Up for Anxiety and Overwhelming Feelings
Join Laura for this EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique/Tapping) tune up.
Tapping, or EFT, is a mind-body therapy that draws on the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) practice of acupuncture and it is used today as a self-help approach in modern psychology. It involves tapping key acupoints on the hands, face, and body with your fingertips while acknowledging uncomfortable feelings or concerns, and using positive affirmations to neutralize those feelings.
The evidence for this simple approach to stress reduction has been growing exponentially. Research has shown that tapping is beneficial for food cravings, depression, anxiety, phobias and post-traumatic stress disorder.
What is even more interesting is that tapping can affect the body’s biochemistry such as immunity and blood pressure. Just one hour of tapping decreases the stress hormone cortisol by 43%.
Better still, follow up studies show how the benefits of tapping last over time, even up to 2 years later.
It has been suggested that tapping affects the stress centre in the brain (the amygdala) and the memory centre (the hippocampus). Both play a part in the fight or fight response.
No experience is necessary, but if you’ve attend a prior tapping workshop, this is a great opportunity to use your skills in a community setting.
